Urban Group and its 6 associated companies, together with 237 managed properties, supported the "Earth Hour 2024" on 23 March 2024 by turning off non-essential lights and appliances for one hour starting at 8:30 p.m., symbolizing stakeholders' ability to change personal habits and support sustainable lifestyles.
Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group said, “This is the 16th consecutive year for us supporting such an extraordinary event. Urban is dedicated to promoting a low-carbon and green lifestyle, actively integrating elements of sustainable development into the daily operations of our service teams and corporate governance structure. The group also collaborates with government agencies and community organizations to participate in and promote various environmental protection activities, making our contribution to environmental preservation. This year, we are responding to the call of the World Wildlife Fund by going a step further during the Earth Hour, engaging in nature-related activities and experiencing our connection with the Earth. We firmly believe that by working together, we can extend the impact of Earth Hour and continue a low-carbon lifestyle beyond the designated hour, taking more actions to help reverse climate change.”
"Earth Hour" is the largest global environmental movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) since 2007. The event aims to encourage individuals and communities worldwide to take immediate action and embrace sustainable lifestyles to safeguard the environment. This year's theme is "Give an Hour for Earth" which urges public to make small changes in their daily lives, such as modifying their diet, engaging in physical activities, participating in outdoor events and adopting sustainable entertainment habits. By fostering a sense of connection with nature, the goal is to collectively practice a green lifestyle and create a positive transformation for the planet.
