Urban Group Caring Day 2017 110 Corporate Volunteers conduct green workshop with 80 Senior Citizens of Chinese YMCA Elderly Centre

Urban Group, Hong Kong’s Premier Property Assets and Facility Management Group, jointly organized the 2017 Caring Day with the Chinese YMCA Chai Wan Neighborhood Elderly Centre on December 9, 2017 at Jockey Club Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Yuen Long. 110 corporate volunteers of Urban Group accompanied 80 elderly to participate in planting workshop and educated them to make eco-detergent, promoting a green culture among the elderly.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group, Ms Jessica Shiu, Coordinating Secretary of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong and Ms Minerva Tang, Principal Programme Secretary of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong officiated the Launching Ceremony of the Urban Group Caring Day 2017, symbolizing the joint efforts of the two organizations to spread love and care to the community. With the theme of caring and promoting a green lifestyle, Urban’s corporate volunteers assisted the elderly in planting and making eco-detergent by citrus peel. The volunteers of Urban Group also delivered gift packs to all elderly.

Dr Edmond Cheng pointed out that “We have organized the Caring Day event for 5 consecutive years. With our core value of ‘Caring for the Community’, we are committed to strive to spread our caring messages to the community.”

Dr Cheng continued, “This year, we promote sustainable development of the society and spread the concept of “Do It Yourself” by cultivating the elderly’s interest in planting and educating them to make eco-detergent by the citrus peel.”

“Urban has been shouldering our corporate social responsibilities over the years through participating in various social service activities. We have been receiving the Caring Company Certificate from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for over 15 years.” Dr Cheng revealed.

Our corporate and property volunteer team has also been awarding the Appreciation Certificate for Volunteer Services and the Leading Caring Estates recognition from Social Welfare Department, demonstrating our achievements in organizing corporate social responsibility activities among our staff members and customers.” Dr Cheng continued.

Urban Group Community Care Team has been established to coordinate the corporate volunteering programs since 2002, connecting and encouraging staff and customers to join voluntary services. Up to now, 46 Urban Group property volunteer teams have participated in various corporate caring projects for the needy people in the society.
