Urban Group recently received the Merit Award in the Enterprise Category and the Corporate Citizenship Logo in the Volunteer Team Category in “The 8th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Presentation Ceremony”, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education to commend their efforts in serving the community. In addition, the Group has been granted the Corporate Citizenship 5+ Logo to recognize its endeavours to shoulder corporate social responsibilities.
The Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 15 December 2017 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council revealed that the Award was aimed to encourage enterprises creating innovative solutions to tackle cross-sectoral social issues. The Awards also advocate organizations to shoulder corporate social responsibilities so as to foster the sustainable economic, social and environmental developments in Hong Kong.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group stated that “Urban Group is delighted to receive the Corporate Team Merit Award and two Corporate Citizenship Logos. This year, we are one of the 46 companies which received the 'Corporate Citizenship 5+ Logo', demonstrating our endeavours in implementing and promoting corporate social responsibility and supporting the Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Program for 5 consecutive years, which is indeed a great encouragement for our corporate volunteers. We have established the Urban Group Community Care Committee since 2002 to cultivate a caring spirit through engaging staff members from different departments and properties to participate in voluntary services. Up to now, we have 46 volunteer teams from different properties, contributing to a harmonious community in Hong Kong.”
“Over the years, members of the Urban Group Community Care Team have been enthusiastically participated in different voluntary activities, including leading the elderly to participate in “Do It Yourself” green workshops, organizing visits to the Ecopark for the underprivileged children, cleaning and minor household repairs for the elderly and paying visits to their homes during festive seasons, scarves knitting and distributions, used books collection and charity sales, Green Power Hike, flag–selling and various fund-raising events by the Community Chest as well as supporting the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaign to spread our caring message to every corner of the community. From 2011 to 2016, our corporate volunteers have devoted a total of 8,317 hours in serving the community to help the people in need, showing our care for the community.” Dr Edmond Cheng continued.
