Urban Group and 22 properties support HKEPA Wood Recycling and Tree Conservation Scheme

Date: 27/6/2017

Urban Group and 22 properties under its management supported the Wood Recycling & Tree Conservation Scheme organized by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Association (HKEPA) through donating Christmas trees and peach blossoms after the festive seasons, which would then be recycled and transformed to usable resources such as organic fertilizer for planting.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group said, “We have been supporting HKEPA’s recycling campaign since 2012. Our management offices always purchase festive plants for decorations during the festive seasons. However, tones of discarded plants are sent to the landfills every year. The Wood Recycling and Tree Conservation Scheme enables us to help reuse the natural resources.”

The Hong Kong Government has set a target to reduce the carbon intensity of about 50% by 2020. The HKEPA Scheme of this year is able to reduce carbon emission by around 100 Kg. Hence, the joint efforts of the entire community to embrace an environmentally sustainable culture in daily life are the keys. The organic fertilizer produced by the recycled plants is donated to primary and secondary schools for the campus greeneries.

The properties under the management of Urban Group participated in the Wood Recycling & Tree Conservation Scheme include:
Baguio Villa, Belcher's Hill, Cayman Rise, Chermain Heights , Holly Court , Ka Lung Court, Kam Tai Court, KOHO, Lyttelton Garden , Mount Davis 33, New World Tower , No. 60 Victoria Road, One Beacon Hill, Queen's Terrace, Ronsdale Garden , Royalton, Royalton II, Scholastic Garden, The Merton, West Kowloon- , Disciplined Services Quarters, Wing On Lodge, Yukon Court

“Urban Group has been cooperating with various green organizations to support recycling and reusing of resources. We will continue to advocate the properties under our group to participate in various recycling activities and disseminate the green messages and good practices on environmental protection to our stakeholders.” Dr Edmond Cheng continued.
