In the Kowloon West Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony held on 25 May 2017, thirty properties and nine security guards of Urban Group bagged 51 awards and a security guard from Mei Foo Sun Chuen was honoured as Best Outstanding Security Guard.
The Kowloon West Best Security Services Awards are jointly organized by the Hong Kong Police Force Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office, the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority and The Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies, which aim to promote quality security services and thereby prevent crimes. Properties without or with the least serious crimes in the past 12 months are qualified to be nominated.
“To be recognised by the Police for providing outstanding security services is always delightful,” said Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group. “These 51 awards have assured Urban Group’s quality of service.”
Out of the 30 awarded properties under Urban Group, 10 properties are awarded with the Well-Managed Property Award with ‘Stars’ as no crime or the least serious crime was reported in these properties for the past few years. Among them, Kaiser Estate, an industrial building in Hung Hom, is entitled as Honourable Managed Property, the highest recognition among the awards for its endeavour to prevent crime in the past 9 consecutive years.
“Urban Group is currently employing more than 4,000 security guards serving 373 residential estates, commercial premises, government buildings, car parks and hi-tech facilities. We believe that continuous learning and training are vital in providing the best service to our customers. To give you a clear picture, we have organised 179 trainingcourses in 2016, totalling 73,000 training hours for our security guards,” Dr Cheng revealed.
“Other than internal training, we also sponsored them to obtain professional qualifications. In the past 2 years, 639 staff of Urban Group passed the assessment of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Mechanism in the Qualifications Framework and received the Management of Security Operation Work Level 1 to Level 3 Certificates respectively,” he added.
Other than awarding the well-managed properties, the Kowloon West Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony also turned the spotlight onto security guards who have outstanding performance in helping the Police to combat crime during the past year. 4 security guards working in Mei Foo Sun Chuen were awarded as Outstanding Security Guards and among them, Mr Cheung Kwang-cheong was awarded as one of the 10 Best Outstanding Security Guards in the district. Mr Cheung had successfully caught a burglar who attempted to climb the scaffold while the buildings in Mei Foo Sun Chuen Stage 8 were under external renovation.
