Three residential estates under the management of Urban Group went home with 5 awards in the Tenants Purchase Scheme (TPS) and Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) Category of the 2015/16 Wong Tai Sin District Quality Building Management Competition to make the company a major winner in the event.
The Wong Tai Sin Quality Building Management Competition, one of the key annual building management activities in the District, approached its 17th anniversary this year. The purpose of the Competition is to promote the importance of building management to the households and various management organizations; and, to encourage the residents to actively participate in building management practices in the public housing estates, home ownership scheme and private residential properties in the district. Its ultimate goal is to provide a better living environment for the people living in this area through enhancing the service quality of building management.
The 3 awarded residential estates under Urban Group are namely: Rhythm Garden in San Po Kong, Lung Poon Court in Diamond Hill and Kingsford Terrace in Ngau Chi Wan. At the Award Presentation Ceremony held on 10th September, 2015, Rhythm Garden, Lung Poon Court (Block A to F) and Kingsford Terrace received the 1st Runner-up, Second runner-up and Merit Awards respectively under the TPS and HOS Category. In additional, Rhythm Garden also received the Green Building Award for the 4th consecutive year and the Safe & Healthy Community Award for the 2nd year; after it became the first winner of this Award when it was launched last year.

It reflects the performance of our management teams to maintain quality services and their devotion to striving for the best management services for the residents continuously so that they can have a comfortable living environment.”
“I also want to thank the owners’ representatives of the 3 estates whose support enables us to constantly improve the quality of our management services," said Dr Edmond Cheng.
Dr Cheng pointed out that the winning keys in this Competition were a good understanding on the needs of the residents in each estate. “With the limited resources available in the TPS and HOS estates, we should adopt a realistic and practical approach for our management services. For instances, in Rhythm Garden, we have spent our efforts in making use of the limited resources to perform our green and environmental protection works. Whereas, in response to carbon reduction, we once introduced a cycling marathon to the residents, which was a good example for green education since the electricity generated by the cycling event can be used for the illumination devices in the public areas,” he said.
“Recently, we have launched the Medication Waste Disposal Programme with the Hong Kong Academy of Pharmacy at Rhythm Garden. We have collected a large amount of unused or expired drugs from the elderlies and the residents and returned them to the pharmacists for handling,” Dr Cheng continued.
Dr Cheng concluded, "The judging panel of this year’s Competition consisted of representatives from different government departments and professional bodies, who are experts in respective areas. They were very stringent and expected a very high standard and quality of services. I am glad to know that they recognized our services and awarded us with these accolades."
