Urban Group was awarded the Gold Award by the Friends of the Earth HK (FoE) in the Take a “Brake” Low Carbon Action – Corporate Green Driving Award Scheme 2014, for recognizing its dedication and efforts towards a greener driving habit. This Award is designed for the corporate sector in an attempt to encourage the corporate vehicle fleet to adopt energy saving driving habits.
“Green management is one of Urban Group’s core values which has long been applied and advocated in many areas, including recycling management, adoption of eco-friendly substitutes, promotion of green messages, and support different environmental programmes,” said Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group.
The vehicle fleet of Urban Group supports the daily operations of 358 projects under their management. “Safe and green driving attitudes are embraced by our fleet drivers and employees. We take measurable results in fuel savings via cost-effective and practical means. We have a well-developed system to sustain efficient operations yet reduce car use between our portfolios,” Dr Cheng continued.
Take a “Brake” Low Carbon Action is a green initiative organised by Friends of the Earth (HK). The scheme is fully supported by Environmental Protection Department. Since its inception in 2010, average fuel saving has reached more than 11% by the participating organisations. Accumulated reduction in fuel consumption is about 71,500 litres per month and 124,000 employees have been educated in the energy-efficient driving practices.
