Urban Group excels in Occupational Safety and Health
obtains Certificate of Merit in Safety Technological Achievement Award

Urban Group recently obtained the "Certificate of Merit in Safety Technological Achievement Award" in the Occupational Safety & Health Award 2003 organized by the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Council through implementing quality practices in workplace safety and health. In addition, Urban received the Bronze Award in Best Presentation by sharing their best practices during the Forum of the Award in June 2003.

Dr Ng Tat Lun BBS JP, Chairman of Occupational Safety and Health Council said, "The Award has been established to recognize organizations that demonstrate strong commitment and outstanding performance in safety and health in the working places. Sharing their proven methods and invaluable experience will certainly help others to improve their own safety and health systems, thereby benefiting the entire community."

The company established its Occupational Safety and Health Committee in 1998 to promote and coordinate all related activities and to launch their OSH Ambassador Scheme. Up to August 2003, more than 130 OSH Ambassadors of Urban have been trained by the OSH Council.

Urban Group obtained the "Certificate of Merit in Safety Technological Achievement Award" by developing the Safety Under-water Working Cart and applied this innovative OSH technology in Hong Lam Court in Shatin under its management. Through participating in this Award, Urban aims to create a safe operation environment, emphasizing occupational safety and health practices and continuous improvement on their service quality, which established a solid foundation for Urban's premier services to their 1,000,000 customers in 320 properties under their management.

Urban Group launched their 21st Century Integrated TQM Approach - "The Urban Premier Management™ Model" in 2002 to enhance their service standard. In April 2003, Urban Group was named the Best Employers in Hong Kong, recognizing their efforts in promoting a safe and healthy environment for their employees. Moreover, the Group was also nominated as the Overall Winner in the 2003 HKMA Quality Award organized by the Hong Kong Management Association, which is the highest honour in quality management in the territory. The company also obtained the Good Housekeeping Award, Eco-Business Gold Award, 46 Web Care Awards and the Caring Company recognition in 2002.
