Urban Group obtains Caring Company Recognition emphasizing corporate social citizenship

Urban Group, Hong Kong's Premier Property and Facility Management Company, obtained the "Caring Company" recognition presented by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, signifying a role model of corporate social responsibility among property management companies in Hong Kong.

Organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the aims of the Caring Company Award are to recognize the business sector's commitment to community services and to build up a caring community spirit through cultivating corporate citizenship and strategic partnership between the business and social service sectors. All awarded companies are well recognized for their engagements and contributions in community care and social services.

According to Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group, "In our 'Urban Premier Management Model', we emphasize 'Community Care, Continuous Improvement and Assets Management'. To achieve these goals, we actively encourage and support our staff members to participate in voluntary services and help promoting the volunteering movement among residents under our management. We hope that our efforts may contribute to re-build the confidence of Hong Kong people for a brighter future."

Urban Group launched the industry unique "Urban Premier Management Model" in September 2002 emphasizing "People, Process and Performance" to introduce a new operation direction for the Hong Kong Property and Facility Management Industry as well as to enhance its service standard. Within the Model, "Community Care" is a crucial element to ensure all staff of Urban Group to indoctrinate in a new service culture.

Dr Edmond Cheng pointed out, "We established the 'The Urban Group Community Care Team' in June 2002, which has been registered in the Social Welfare Department. Currently we have over 200 voluntary workers who echo the government's volunteering movement by regularly carrying out social services such as visiting the elderly, helping them in cleaning and minor repairing works in their homes. Our Community Care Team has just finished the Scarf-knitting Campaign in December 2002 for those elderly people living in the Housing for Senior Citizens of the public rental housing estates managed by Urban."

Currently, Urban Group manages 300 properties and facilities, which comprise more than 120 million square feet in gross floor area. They include 150,000 residential units, 20 million square feet of commercial and industrial premises and over 33,000 car parking spaces throughout the territory. Urban Group has a high reputation in its professionalism, excellent service quality and innovation, which has become a mark of confidence for the property owners.
