The Urban Group Community Care Team participates in Campaign Evergreen
of the Social Welfare Department

As the major member of the Steering Committee on Volunteer Movement of the Social Welfare Department, over 20 volunteers of the Urban Group participated in the Launching Ceremony of the Campaign Evergreen organized by the Social Welfare Department on 7th July 2002 at the Olympian City 2, West Kowloon. The volunteers of the Urban Group helped distribute several hundreds of evergreen plants to the people in the venue, spreading love and care to others to promote the spirit of volunteering to the people of Hong Kong.
In the ceremony, Mrs Carrie Lam, JP, Director of Social Welfare presented an evergreen plant to Mr P C Lau, Deputy Managing Director of the Urban Group to thank for the companyˇ¦s contributions in the campaign as well as its continuous efforts to promote volunteering services among its staff members and the residents under its management. It is hoped to build a caring society through these efforts to help others and to lend support to the people in need.
Mr Lau was pleased to have this opportunity to join this meaningful event of the Social Welfare Department with the volunteers of Urban. He said the company had formed the "Urban Group Community Care Team" in June with an aim to encourage more staff members to join community and volunteering services in the society. Mr Lau pointed out, "Staff members not only can enjoy helping others in the volunteering activities, but can also benefit themselves in terms of satisfaction and the cultivation of an optimistic attitude to face the challenge and difficulties of life."
"The Urban Group Community Care Team" currently has over 50 members who regularly carry out activities like visiting the elderly, helping them clean and repair their homes and knitting scarves to echo the volunteering movement of the society. The Team also acts as a catalyst to motivate residents under the management of Urban to join volunteering services to build a harmonious and caring community.
