Urban develops Electronic Ballot System for Owners' Elections

Hong Kong's Largest Property and Facility Manager the Urban Group is committed to provide new value-added services and a quality lifestyle to its clients. Following the launch of the Payment-by-Phone Service (PPS) Management Fee Payment System in April, the Group recently launches a new sophisticated Electronic Ballot System for use in the elections of Owner's Committees during the General Meetings. The introduction of this new system greatly reduce the necessary time and human resources for counting the votes and improves the transparency of general elections which enhances its service efficiency to the clients.

The Pilot Run of the Electronic Ballot System was successfully launched in King Lam Estate, Tseung Kwan O managed by Urban. Before the election, the estate management staff will enter relevant information into the database to record the eligibility of owners who have the right to vote. A barcode is then generated and printed out for each owner for sticking onto the usual ballots. Since one barcode is generated for each owner, this can avoid duplication of votes and save the time for verification.

Besides, this computer based system helps reducing the overall election time and the real time vote counting process can be displayed, enables effective monitoring and verification of the votes.
