Urban supports Housing Manager Registration by participating in Property Management Roadshow

The Housing Managers Registration Board organized a Property Management Roadshow in eight regional shopping arcades started from 20th April to promote the Professional Housing Managers Registration System and the importance of property management to the people of Hong Kong.

As Hong Kong's largest property and facility manager, the Urban Group actively participated in the Roadshow to promote the Housing Managers Registration System. Currently, Urban has employed some 100 professionally qualified property managers, the largest number among private management companies in the territory.

The Opening Ceremony of the Property Management Roadshow was held on 20th April at the Maritime Square in Tsing Yi. Officiating guest of the Ceremony, Acting Secretary for Housing Ms Elaine Chung emphasized that "the Government strives to promote professional property management in Hong Kong. We have introduced modern management models in the public sector for many years. The establishment of the Housing Managers Registration Board aims to improve the professional standard of housing managers. It also helps promoting professionalisation of the industry and explaining the Registration Ordinance to the practitioners as well as the general public."

She said, "professional property management becomes increasingly important in the 21st Century. Following the economic take-off in the Mainland China and its thriving property market, it has a great demand on professional property managers. If the managers can cope with the demands and enrich their professional knowledge and standard, they would have a better position in the marketplace."

Whereas Chairman of the Housing Managers Registration Board Mr Victor So indicated, "established on 1st April 2000, our major responsibilities are the registration of housing managers and the monitoring of their professional ethics. So far, more than 500 professional managers have been registered."

Dr Edmond Cheng, Vice-Chairman of the Registration Board and Managing Director of the Urban Group, believed that the establishment of the registration system would lead the industry to self-discipline and professionalisation, and as a result, to strengthen the social status of the profession. He very much expected that the Roadshow can enhance the understanding of the general public towards professional property management.

Deputy Managing Director of Urban Group Mr P C Lau, whose company is one of the major sponsors of the event, expressed that as the private property management company in Hong Kong with the largest number of professional managers, Urban fully support the registration system, which could improve the standard of Urban as well as the industry as a whole.

To be held in eight shopping arcades in the territory including Maritime Square, Telford Plaza, New Town Plaza, New Jade Plaza, Olympian City, Tuen Mun Town Centre, Sheung Tak Shopping Arcade and Wonderful World of Whampoa, the general public may have a better understanding towards the operations of the Registration Board and professional property management through the Roadshow.
