Urban Group promotes Two Senior Executives

The Board of the Urban Group is pleased to announce the promotion of two senior executives. Dr Edmond Cheng has been promoted to Managing Director and Mr P C Lau has been promoted to Deputy Managing Director of the Group with effect from 1st February 2002.

Dr Edmond Cheng joined the Urban Group in December 2000 as Executive Director. He has over 23 years experience in property and facility management, strategic management, sales and letting of real estate properties.

Moreover, Dr Cheng is the prevailing President of The Hong Kong Institute of Housing and holds a number of memberships in various professional bodies of the real estate field. Dr Cheng is a Fellow of The Hong Kong Institute of Housing and The Chartered Institute of Housing. He is a Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong. He is now a Registered Professional Surveyor (General Practice), a Registered Professional Housing Manager, a Certified Facility Manager and a Licenced Estate Agent. He is also a member of The Real Estate Services Training Board of the Vocational Training Council, The Housing Managers Registration Board and The Contractors Registration Committee of the Building Department.

Mr P C Lau joined the Urban Group in 1993 as Group Operations Manager and was promoted to Executive Director in January 2001. He has worked for the Housing Department of the Hong Kong Government for 37 years and he retired as Assistant Director of Housing.

Currently, Mr Lau is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Housing. He has over 40 years of extensive experience working in estate management, tender preparations, land control and administration.

While Dr Edmond Cheng resumes strategic stewardship of the Urban Group to lead it to further expansions and developments, Mr P C Lau is responsible for the overall operations and tendering activities of Urban. Both Dr Cheng and Mr Lau shall report directly to the Board of Directors of the Urban Group.
