Urban Group, a subsidiary of New World Services Limited (NWS) today held "A Joyful Shopping Experience at Park Lane" 2001 Christmas Lighting Switch-on Ceremony for Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard in central Tsimshatsui.

Officiating at the Ceremony had Mr. Lau Po-chi and Dr Edmond Cheng, Executive Directors of Urban Group; Mr. Lambert Chan, General Manager ˇV Destination Marketing of the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Mr. John M H Bicknell CSP, District Commander of Yau Tsim District of the Hong Kong Police Force.

Since its establishment in 1985, Park Lane has been professionally managing by Urban. Every Christmas, Urban designs glamorous and festive lighting for the shopping arcade to highlight the holiday seasons along Nathan Road. This year, the theme is to bring shoppers "A Joyful Shopping Experience at Park Lane". The company expects the lighting can attract more Hong Kong people and tourists to shop at Park Lane, which helps boosting the economy of the territory.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Hong Kong Tourism Board's General ManagerˇVDestination Marketing, Mr Lambert Lam said that the three-month CLP Lights Up Hong Kong programme presents Hong Kong's perennial attractions ˇX its magnificent skyline, its district lighting and its exciting festive events ˇV in a new light. The 62 Aqua Fantasia musical fountain shows held at the Centenary Garden, in Tsimshatsui East combine colourful displays of light, music and water to make the district more attractive than ever.

Mr Chan said, "For this programme, the HKTB needs the support of various industries/sectors to come up with their own creative ideas and special shopping offers. The delightful festive decorations of Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard share the same objective as the CLP Lights Up Hong Kong programme: that is to attract more visitors and residents and encourage them to spend to boost Hong Kong's economy."

Executive Director of Urban Mr. Lau Po-chi pointed out that, "Urban has been serving and growing with Hong Kong in the past twenty years. Alike the Hong Kong people, we will continue to upgrade ourselves and maintain our competitiveness to meet challenges ahead. In 2001, we have launched Sm@rtUrbanTM, a new management model comprising 'People, Process and Technology' aimed to enhance our overall management quality in order to better serve the Hong Kong people and build a better future for them."
