Two Large Estates under Urban win 6 major prizes in Recycling

City One Shatin and Riviera Gardens under the Urban Property Management Group have won 6 major prizes in the Waste Recycling Campaign in Housing Estates (Phase IV) organized by the Environmental Campaign Committee.

City One Shatin is the major prizewinner of the Campaign as it won a total of 5 major awards. City One Shatin is the Champions in both paper and aluminium cans categories with the highest average weight of waste per household collected among the estates in Hong Kong. Whereas, in the Private Housing Estates Group, City One Shatin is also the winner in the paper and aluminium cans categories and in the plastic bottle category, City One Shatin and Riviera Gardens was awarded as the 1st and the 2nd Runner-up respectively.

During the Prize Presentation Ceremony, Mr H T Lui, JP, Acting Director of Home Affairs said, "More than 700 housing estates have joined the Waste Recycling Campaign now. Totally over 88,047 tonnes of waste paper, 1,547 tonnes of aluminium cans and 778 tonnes of plastic bottles were collected in the Phase IV event."

"Among those participated estates, I am delighted to know that City One Shatin have won 5 major prizes. This shows that residents of the estate are well aware of the importance of environmental protection by participating actively in the recycling campaign," said Mr Hui.

According to Mr P C Lau, Executive Director of the Urban Group, apart from City One Shatin and Riviera Gardens, more than 60 properties under their management have already joined the recycling campaign. "One of our missions in Urban is to build up a 'Green' living and working environments for our clients and to raise the environmental awareness of residents on waste recycling and separation. The awards won by City One Shatin and Riviera Gardens have great encouragement to our staff members as well as the residents."

"In the future, we will continue to assist the Hong Kong Government to promote the importance of environmental protection to the Hong Kong people." Said Mr Lau.
