Urban Group recently received the Corporate Citizenship Logo in the Enterprise Category and the Volunteer Team Category in “The 9th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Presentation Ceremony”, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education to commend their efforts in serving the community.
The Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 14 December 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, was officiated by Dr Law Chi Kwong, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, and Mr Lin Sun Mo, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group stated that “Urban Group is delighted to receive the Corporate Citizenship Logos. Urban Group has been participating in this programme for 6 consecutive years, demonstrating its notable CSR performance and volunteering work, which is indeed a great encouragement for our corporate volunteers. We have established the Urban Group Community Care Committee since 2002 to cultivate a caring spirit through engaging staff members from different departments and properties to participate in voluntary services. Up to now, we have 46 volunteer teams from different properties, contributing to a harmonious community in Hong Kong.”
“Over the years, members of the Urban Group Community Care Team have been enthusiastically participated in different voluntary activities, including teaching children to express their care and love to the elderly, leading the elderly to participate in “Do It Yourself” green workshops, organizing visits to the Ecopark for the underprivileged children, cleaning and minor household repairs for the elderly and paying visits to their homes during festive seasons, scarves knitting and distributions, used books collection and charity sales, Green Power Hike, flag–selling and various fund-raising events by the Community Chest as well as supporting the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaign to spread our caring message to every corner of the community.
From 2011 to 2018, our corporate volunteers have devoted more than 12,000 hours in serving the community to help the people in need, showing our care for the community.” Dr Edmond Cheng continued.
