Urban Group with its 5 associated companies and 182 properties under its management recently supported “Earth Hour 2023” on 26th March 2023 and pledged to switch off all unnecessary exterior lights and ensure non-essential office lighting and equipment are turned off at 8:30p.m. for an hour, to demonstrate the need for a greater action on climate change and to bear the social responsibility protecting wildlife habitats as well as the future of our planet.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group remarked, “This is the 15th consecutive year for us supporting such a meaningful event. Over the years, we have been expressing our concern on tackling the climate crisis and to promote eco-friendly by implementing a variety of green management measures through daily operations. Switching off lights may seem minimal, yet it’s a symbolic gesture reminding ourselves of our commitment protecting the nature. I am glad to know that more of our managed properties have been awarded the participation certificates this year, which reflects the Group’s devoting efforts in promoting environmental protection and to motivate the crowd to live in a more sustainable lifestyle.”
“Earth Hour” is the largest global environmental movement held by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) since 2007. The campaign aims to arouse public attention on their energy consumption and to encourage reflection on how they can save the nature by making a slight change in daily habits. The campaign enjoys enthusiastic participation from a wide cross section and major sectors in the community. This year, the WWF is focusing on wetlands and giving more context to the “habits” that will help create positive change.
