Urban Group received 100 awards in “Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards 2019”, recognizing their active support in shouldering corporate social responsibility through advocating the smoke-free culture to employees.
In view of current epidemic situation of COVID‐19, to avoid mass gathering, the awards presentation ceremony was held virtually on 21st August, 2020. In particular, Urban Group was granted the Silver Award for its dedication and commitment in creating a healthy and pleasant workplace environment, while 99 of its managed properties were granted the Certificate of Merit.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group remarked, “We are honoured to receive recognition in “the Awards”. We weigh employees’ health as valuable assets, working in a smoke-free environment has proven to be more productive and efficient at workplace. This year, we have introduced a ‘Quit Smoking Campaign’ to encourage our colleagues to break their unhealthy habits, providing them ‘Stop Smoking Aids’ and related services. We will continue spreading the smoke-free messages and work hard to protect the health of employees so as to build a smoke-free lifestyle. ”
“Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards 2019” is organized by Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health, the Occupational Safety and Health Council and Radio 1 of Radio Television Hong Kong. It aims to promote the smoke-free messages to the general public on a continuous basis as well as to commend the outstanding corporations for their efforts in implementing smoke-free policies. The Awards in 2019 recorded a new height with more than 530 companies participating, a 10% increase as compared with the Awards in 2016.
