Date: 23/1/2018

Urban Group and its associated companies including Urban Property Management Limited and International Property Management Limited, together with 102 properties under its management, received the Friends of EcoPark Certificates in the "Dump Less, Save More, Recycle Right" Kick-off Ceremony cum 2017 Friends of EcoPark Award Presentation Ceremony held on 19 December 2017.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group said, “We have the largest group of properties ever entitled as ‘Friends of EcoPark’. In 2017, properties under our management collected 2,000 pieces of used electrical and electronic appliances, Christmas trees and peach blossoms which were delivered to the EcoPark for recycling into usable materials.”

The Friends of EcoPark Scheme aims to encourage collaboration between the tenants of EcoPark and the private/public organisations. This year 218 organisations receive this recognition, the highest number of awardees since its launch in 2010.

The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, GBS, JP, pointed out during the ceremony that besides waste reduction at source and clean recycling, recycling and recovery are the keys to sustain waste management. The "Friends of EcoPark" Scheme is a vital part to achieve greater recycling results.

“We have spent great efforts and resources to advocate for the behavioral changes of our customers at the properties to support waste reduction and recycling activities through a green management campaign started in 2017.” Dr Cheng added. “As a sizable property management company in Hong Kong, we have the obligation to support the government’s environmental appeal.”
