135 associated companies and properties under Urban Group received the Certificates of Merit in the Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards organized by The Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH) in recognition of the Group’s endeavours in promoting a smoke-free culture in the working environment.
The Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards have been organized by COSH since 2011, aimed to encourage organizations to disseminate the smoke-free messages and motivate more people to join the “Smoke-free Family”. Also, the award recognizes companies which advocate in shouldering their corporate social responsibility.
The Hong Kong Smoke-free Leading Company Awards Presentation Ceremony was held on 27th February, 2017 and was officiated by Professor Sophia Chan, JP, Under Secretary for Food and Health and Mr. Antonio Kwong, MH, the Chairman of COSH.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group revealed, “Urban Group has been implementing a No-smoking Policy at our Headquarters since 1995 and extended to all regional offices under the Group in 1999. Since then, our staff has been prohibited to smoke in the workplace and in all company vehicles. In recent years, we supported the World No Tobacco Day activity by disseminating the latest smoke-free message to all our staff and promoting a smoke-free lifestyle to our customers through our networks. We also organize different activities for our staff to spread the smoke-free messages so as to create a healthy living environment.”
“We have 69 properties received the Certificate of Merit in 2011. This year, we have 135 associated companies and properties received the Certificates of Merit, which motivate us to extend the scale of promoting a smoke-free culture in future. ” Dr Edmond Cheng continued.
