Urban Group received two Corporate Citizenship Logos in the Enterprise Category and Volunteer Team Category of the 7th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education to commend the efforts of Urban Group and its corporate volunteer team – Urban Group Community Care Team in serving the community.
Ms Mak Tang Pik yee, Agnes, JP, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Productivity Council revealed at The 7th Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Presentation Ceremony that the Award was aimed to encourage enterprises to integrate corporate citizenship concepts into their business operations. In addition, the Awards also advocate organizations to shoulder corporate social responsibilities so as to foster the sustainable economic, social and environmental developments in Hong Kong.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group stated that “Urban Group is delighted to receive two Corporate Citizenship Logos. We have been awarded the Corporate Citizenship Logos for 3 consecutive years, demonstrating our achievements in implementing and promoting corporate social responsibility. We established the Urban Group Community Care Committee in 2002 to cultivate a caring spirit across the Group through engaging staff members from different departments and properties to participate in volunteering services, helping to build up a harmonious community in Hong Kong.”
“Over the years, members of the Urban Group Community Care Team have been enthusiastically participated in different volunteering activities, including organizing visits to the Ecopark for the underprivileged children, cleaning and minor household repairs for the elderly and paying visits to their homes during festive seasons, scarves knitting and distributions, used books collection and charity sales, Green Power Hike, Trailwalker, flag days and various Community Chest fund-raising events as well as supporting the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaign to spread our caring message to every corner of the community. From 2011 to 2015, our corporate volunteers have devoted a total of 6,978 hours in social services to help the people in need, showing our care for the community.” Dr Edmond Cheng continued.
