Urban Group, Broadway-Nassau Investments Limited and Paramatta Estate Management Limited, recently received the [email protected] Project 2015 Certificate from the Department of Health, recognizing their commitment in caring for their staff’s occupational safety and health (OSH) and devotion in promoting various OSH activities to raise their staff’s health awareness.
Launched by the Department of Health in 2012, the [email protected] Project aims to encourage organizations to promote a healthy lifestyle at the workplace and encourage the workforce to follow a healthy lifestyle, thereby achieving health for all in the community. A total of 18 organizations participated in the Project, bringing health benefits to over 3,300 staff.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group said, "Urban Group always values our staff as the most important asset of the company. Therefore, we care for the physical and mental health of our staff by creating a healthy workplace and encourage them to build up a healthy lifestyle. Through participating in the [email protected] Project, we hope to inspire more companies to organize OSH activities for their staff, promoting a healthy workforce in the society.”
Urban Group set up the “Wellness Committee” in 2013 to organize OSH activities for their staff. The Committee regularly organizes the Health Day and introduces health tips for the employees to enhance their health awareness. Also, the Committee improves the health habits of the staff through implementing a series of caring policies, for example, offering fresh lemon to the staff every day, enabling them to absorb rich nutrients, as well as reducing the consumption of sugary beverages. Afternoon Tea Gathering is organized every month when fruits and healthy snacks are provided.
Besides promoting a healthy diet, Urban Group also advocates the importance of regular exercise by arranging its colleagues to take walks at a nearby park, enabling them to experience the benefits starting from light exercise. The Group also organizes corporate basketball, football and table tennis teams and invites professional coaches to conduct regular lessons to the players. Various sports classes, such as fencing, yoga and kick-boxing are organized for its staff. Furthermore, during the Christmas parties and annual dinners, Urban Group offers sports related products as lucky draw prizes in order to encourage the staff to establish the habit of regular exercise.
