55 companies and properties under Urban Group participated in the Workplace Hygiene Charter Signing Ceremony on 10th July, 2015 organized by the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC) to vow commitment on promoting a safe and hygienic workplace.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group reveals, “Urban Group is a pioneer in the industry to promote workplace occupational safety and health. We established our Occupational Safety and Health Committee in 1998 to monitor and implement our Occupational Safety and Health Policy. In 2002, the Group established its Environmental and Safety Management System and successfully obtained the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates.”
Since 2003, OSHC and the Labour Department have been jointly organizing an annual campaign to encourage organizations to sign up for the Workplace Hygiene Charter as a commitment to safeguard a healthy and hygienic workplace. The event aims to encourage employers across the industries to ensure the safety and hygiene of the workplace as well as to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
“In addition to an efficient maintenance and monitoring system, Urban concerns the health of our customers and staff. In response to the existence of various infectious diseases, we have launched the Environmental Sanitation Management Scheme to alert our customers and staff on the precautionary measures and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in our managed properties and workplace.” Dr Edmond Cheng added.
“In future, we shall continue our endeavors to improve the occupational safety and health standard of our managed properties, stipulate related targets and policy and work closely with our customers and staff to establish a safe and healthy living environment.” said Dr Edmond Cheng.
