117 properties under the management of Urban Group joined over 7,000 cities in 158 countries to support the Earth Hour 2014 event initiated by the World Wild Fund (WWF) on 29th March 2014.

On Saturday, 29th March, 2014 at 8:30 pm, 117 properties in Hong Kong managed by Urban Group joined other global landmarks including the Bird's Nest in Beijing, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Big Ben in London, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Sydney Opera House, Tokyo Tower and Taipei 101 to switch off the lights for 1 hour in their local times, showing their supports in this global event on environmental protection.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group states that, "As a leading property asset and facility services group in Hong Kong, Urban Group is committed to contribute to a sustainable world for the betterment of our next generation. We have much pleasure to support this meaningful event for the 6th consecutive years to help spread the green message and the importance of natural resources conservation through our management projects."

Dr Edmond Cheng adds, "Urban Group actively encourages our customers and staff to establish a good practice on electricity consumption to improve energy efficiency and waste reduction, in order to promote energy saving and carbon reduction. We established our Green Care Committee in 2002. Since then we have been initiating and implementing our 4Rs Environmental Management Strategy of Remind, Replace, Reduce and Recycle in our service network to promote a green lifestyle to our customers."

Earth Hour was initiated by WWF in 2007 in Australia and developed into a global activity in 2008. The campaign aims at encouraging people to think about how we can change our lifestyles to reduce our impact on the environment. This year, WWF is calling on people to support the Earth Hour campaign not only by turning off the lights for one hour in a year, but also by going beyond the hour and reducing the consumption of Earth's resources by giving up environmental unfriendly practices of our lifestyles.

Urban Group is a leading property asset and facility services group in Hong Kong. Currently, the Group manages 335 projects territory-wide and is serving 1 million people in Hong Kong.
