Urban Group recently received the Merit Award (Volunteer Team Category) in the 4th Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award co-organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education to commend the efforts of its corporate volunteer team -Urban Group Community Care Team in serving the community. The Group also received the Corporate Citizenship Logo in the same event to recognize its endeavours to shoulder corporate social responsibilities.
The Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 21st January 2014 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr Victor Ng, Deputy Chairman of HKPC revealed that the Award was aiming to encourage enterprises to integrate corporate citizenship into their business operations to fulfill corporate social responsibilities. It also aimed to recognize and encourage the endeavours of organizations in practicing corporate social responsibilities resulting in a win-win situation for both the organizations and the community.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group revealed, "Urban Group is most delighted to receive the Corporate Volunteer Team Merit Award, which is indeed a great encouragement for our corporate volunteers. We support our staff to participate in various kinds of social services to care for the community and to shoulder our corporate social responsibilities. We have established the Urban Group Community Care Committee in 2002 to cultivate a caring spirit across the Group through engaging staff members from different departments and properties to participate in volunteer services, helping to build up a harmonious community in Hong Kong."
"Over the past years, members of the Urban Group Community Care Team have been actively participating in various social service activities including cleaning and minor household repairs for the elderly and paying visit to their homes during festive seasons, scarves knitting and distribution, volunteer gardening, used books collection and charity sale, Green Power Hike, Trailwalker, flag days and Community Chest fund-raising events, environmental protection activities and the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaign to spread our caring message to every corner of the community," added Dr Edmond Cheng.
