Urban Group jointly organized with Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po District Elderly Community Centre on 30th November, 2013 to launch the Urban Group Caring Day 2013 social service event. On that day, 104 Urban corporate volunteers visited 100 elderly people in Lam Tin to bring them their best wishes.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group, together with Ms Dorothy Chan, Manager of Po Leung Kuk Elderly Services, officiated the Launching Ceremony of Urban Group Caring Day 2013 by putting two hearts together, symbolizing to spread their messages of caring and love for the community.
Dr Edmond Cheng said, "Urban Group has been shouldering our corporate social responsibilities over the years through participating in a number of social service activities including the Trailwalker, Green Power Hike, fund-raising events of the Community Chest and the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaigns. We actively encourage our staff members and our customers to engage in social services through our corporate volunteering team - the Urban Group Community Care Team and our 31 property volunteer teams to care for the deprived people in the society."
Dr Cheng said, "With our spirit of Caring for the Community, Spreading the Message of Love, we are committed to strive for the best endeavours to spread our caring message to every corner of the community every year."
To encourage volunteering within the Group to echo its Core Driver of Community Care, Urban Group established its Community Care Committee (CCC) in 2002. The Committee strives to promote the awareness of Community Care among their stakeholders, especially their customers and employees to build up a caring atmosphere through actively participating in various social services.
Dr Edmond Cheng continued, "Urban Group has been receiving the Caring Company Certificate from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for over 10 years. Our corporate and property volunteer teams have also been awarded the Appreciation Certificate for Volunteer Services and the Leading Caring Estates recognition, demonstrating our achievements in implementing corporate social responsibility among our staff members and customers."
