Urban Group was recently awarded the Certificate of CSR Excellence through participating in the Industry Cares Corporate Social Responsibility Recognition Scheme organized by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) to recognize its CSR achievements.
The Industry Cares Recognition Scheme of FHKI was aiming to advocate and encourage members to pursue CSR in their companies. Its initiative focused on the successful implementation of CSR activities, with particular emphasis on SMEs with limited resources while demonstrating significant efforts in CSR.
The Award Presentation Cceremony was held during the FHKI 53rd Annual General Meeting Luncheon on 5 July 2013. Mr Gregory So Kam Leung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR was the Guest-of-Honour of the event. Mr Stanley Lau Chin-ho, Chairman of FHKI and Dr Roy Chung, ex-Chairman of FHKI presented the Certificate of CSR Excellence to awarding companies.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group said, "We are delighted to become one of the awarding companies of FHKI's newly launched Corporate Social Responsibility Recognition Scheme to advocate CSR among Hong Kong's business sector. Urban Group has been shouldering our corporate social responsibilities over the years through our continuous participation in a number of social service activities including the Trailwalker, Green Power Hike, fund-raising events of the Community Chest and the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaigns. We actively encourage our staff members as well as our customers to engage in social services through our corporate volunteering team-the Urban Group Community Care Team and our 31 property volunteer teams to care for the deprived people in the society.
Dr Edmond Cheng continued, "Urban Group has been receiving the Caring Company recognition from the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for over 10 years. In addition, our corporate volunteer team and our property volunteer teams have been awarded the Appreciation Certificate for Volunteer Service as well as the Leading Caring Estates recognition, demonstrating our achievement in implementing CSR among our staff members and customers."
