112 properties under the management of Urban Group supported Earth Hour 2012 for the 4th consecutive years initiated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on 31st March, 2012 by switching the unnecessary illumination off during 8:30pm-9:30pm
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group states that, "As a major property asset and facility services group in Hong Kong, Urban Group is committed to contribute to a sustainable world for our next generation. We have much pleasure to support this meaningful event to spread the green message through our network of the 112 projects and their customers."
Dr Edmond Cheng continues, "In Urban, we always strive to fulfill our corporate social responsibility to promote a green Hong Kong. We established our Green Care Committee in 2002, which since then initiates and implements our 4Rs Environmental Management Strategy of Remind, Replace, Reduce and Recycle in our service network to promote a green lifestyle to our customers. Moreover, we have over the years participated in a number of green care activities organized by EPD and other organizations such as the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence, Source Separation Campaign, Power Smart Campaign, Wastewi$e Label and Energywi$e Label. We shall continue to strengthen our endeavours in environmental care and to introduce more innovative management services to strive for a sustainable living environment.
Earth Hour was initiated by WWF in 2007 in Australia and developed into a global activity in 2008. The campaign aims at encouraging people to think about how we can change our lifestyles to reduce our impact on the environment. This year, WWF is calling on people to support the Earth Hour campaign not only by turning off the lights for one hour in a year, but also by going beyond the hour and contributing to a sustainable future by doing their part at home every day.
