Twelve companies under Urban Group, a member of NWS Holdings Limited (0659) received the 2008/09 Caring Company Recognition from The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) recently, within which 10 companies under Urban Group received the "5-Year Plus Caring Company" Certificate in recognition of their contributions and outstanding achievements in serving the society.
Urban Group has been supporting the Caring Company Scheme since 2002 and is actively involved in various social services and activities of the HKCSS. It has been the Patron Club member of the Scheme to support the appeal for 3 consecutive years.
Moreover, Managing Director of Urban Group Dr Edmond Cheng was invited to participate in the launching ceremony of this year's campaign as a gesture to encourage the people of Hong Kong to contribute to building up a caring society in times of difficulties.
Dr Edmond Cheng reveals, "We have been actively participating in the Caring Company Scheme since its inception in 2002. Totally, 11 companies in our Group are awarded the '5-Year Plus Caring Company' and "5-Year Caring Company' Certificates this year, recognizing our contributions to community involvement. It also demonstrates the commitment of Urban Group in shouldering our Corporate Social Responsibility."

Over the past years, Urban Group has been actively participating in various social activities like Trailwalker, Green Power Hike, Community Chest events and has been the "Social Service Partner" of Po Leung Kuk since 2005. It also participates in the "Children Amblyobia Campaign" and the social enterprise "Road to Green - Striving for a Young New World" supported by New Would Development Ltd. The "Urban Group Community Care Team", formed by over 300 staff members and their relatives of the Group, has been contributing in a number of volunteering and social services such as visiting the elderly, helping the elderly clean their homes and performing minor repairing works; distributing lucky packs and scarves to the elderly to promote its corporate social responsibility.
