City One Shatin under Urban Group receives EPD Source Separation of Waste Gold Award

18 properties under Urban Group won 19 awards in the Source Separation of Waste Scheme jointly organized by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and the Hong Kong Association of Management Companies, commending their efforts and contributions to environmental management of the Group.

Among the 18 awarded properties, City One Shatin under Urban received the Gold Award, while Old Bailey Street Police Married Quarters in Central won The Award for Lowest Waste Disposal Quantity. Wherever, 12 residential properties won the Bronze Awards and 5 commercial and industrial properties received the Certificate of Merit.

Mr. K M So, Executive Director of Urban Group stated that, "Urban Group always strives to fulfill our corporate social responsibility by participating in various environmental care activities and our strategic focus of Environmental Care Year in 2008/09.  The 19 Awards we received from EPD well recognize our contributions to environmental protection and waste reduction."

The Source Separation of Waste Scheme was launched in January, 2005 and over 940 housing estates have signed up to join the programme, covering 1.14 million households and a population of 3.4 million, representing half of Hong Kong's population. The EPD extended the programme last October to cover industrial and commercial buildings, and to June this year, 400 of these joined the programme.
