Thirteen companies of Urban Group, a member of NWS Holdings Limited (0659) recently received the Caring Company Recognition from Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), within which Urban Property Management Limited received the "5-Year Plus Caring Company Certificate" and 10 companies under the Group received the "5-Year Caring Company Certificate", in recognition of their contributions and outstanding achievements in serving the society.
2008 is the 6th year of the Caring Company scheme. Urban is among the few companies being awarded the Caring Company recognition since 2002 and is also among those major enterprises to support the "Children Development Fund" initiated by the Government. The Fund seeks to encourage children from a disadvantaged background to plan for the future and cultivate positive attitudes with a view to reducing inter-generational poverty. Corporations will support the Fund by encouraging employees to participate as mentors to contribute for children's development plans and to match the children's saving.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group reveals, "We have been actively participating in the Caring Company scheme since its launch in 2002. Within the Group, Urban Property Management Limited obtained the '5-Year Plus Caring Company Certificate' when 10 companies received the '5-year Caring Company Award', signifying our contributions to community involvement. It also demonstrates the commitment of Urban in implementing our Corporate Social Responsibility."

Dr Edmond Cheng continues, "Urban Group is a member of the Patron's Club of the Caring Company scheme for two consecutive years to join hand with other commercial organizations to build a caring community. We also support the 'Children Development Fund' to provide suitable services to the disadvantaged children to fulfill our strategic mission of 'Community Care'."
Over the past years, Urban Group has been actively participating in various social activities like Trailwalker, Green Power Hike, Community Chest events and has been the "Social Service Partner" of Po Leung Kuk since 2005. The "Urban Group Community Care Team", formed by over 300 staff members and their relatives, has been contributing in a number of volunteering and social services such as visiting the elderly, helping the elderly clean their homes and performing minor repairing works; distributing lucky packs and dumplings to the elderly to promote its corporate social responsibility.
