Urban Group has been is the ˇ§Quality Social Service Partnerˇ¨ of Po Leung Kuk for two consecutive years and fully supports its ˇ§2006 District Elderly Campaignˇ¨, which aims to helping the elderly to fulfill their wishes and to spread the message of caring for the elderly to the people of Hong Kong.
The Campaign was launched in early November of 2006. Through different rounds of elderly visits by volunteers of large corporations and organizations, the campaign aims to bring the care of the society to the elderly and to learn more about their needs through surveys collected by the volunteers.
In December 2006, 20 volunteers of Urban Group participated in the Kowloon City Elderly Visit under the Campaign. They have visited 60 elderly families in Homantin Estate bringing with them gifts to present to the elderly. Through the visits, volunteers of Urban gathered information from the elderly on their needs for future follow up activities by Po Leung Kuk and other related organizations.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group revealed, ˇ§Urban Group has been actively participating in the District Elderly Campaign and other campaigns of Po Leung Kuk since 2005. Our 70 volunteers have visited 260 elderly in the Kwun Tong District in 2006 to help them fulfill their wishes. As a corporate citizen, we will continue to support the campaign in 2007 to concern about the needs of the elderly in the society.ˇ¨
ˇ§Urban Group has established our Corporate Social Responsibility Partnership with Po Leung Kuk since 2005 to participate in the Kukˇ¦s social and community projects and to fulfill our target of sustainable development,ˇ¨ added Dr Edmond Cheng.
Urban Group formed its corporate volunteer team ˇV the ˇ§Urban Community Care Teamˇ¨ in 2002, which has up-to-date 300 volunteers comprising staff and their family members. The Group actively encourages the customers in various properties under its management to establish their individual volunteer teams. Up to now, 36 properties under Urban have formed its own volunteer team to build up a strong social service network in Hong Kong.
