As the ˇ§Quality Social Service Partnerˇ¨ and the supporting organization of the ˇ§2006 District Elderly Campaignˇ¨ of Po Leung Kuk, Urban Group recently participated in the Launching Ceremony of the Campaign at the Po Leung Kuk Headquarters in Causeway Bay.
Held on the 10th of November 2006, the event was officiated by Mr Chan Chun Yuen, Thomas, JP, Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands (Housing) cum Director of Housing and Mr Paul Tang, JP, Director of Social Service. Executive Director of Urban Group Mr K M So attended the ceremony with Urbanˇ¦s corporate volunteers to support this charitable endeavours.
Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands (Housing) Mr Chan Chun Yuen commended that the ˇ§District Elderly Campaignˇ¨ of Po Leung Kuk was a meaningful campaign which could not only help the elderly fulfill their wishes but might also help spread the message of caring for the elderly to the people of Hong Kong.
Acting Chairman of Po Leung Kuk Mr K Y Lui revealed that the campaign launched by the Kuk last year was very successful. The Kuk would continue to join hand with Urban Group and various corporations and local organizations to visit the elderly and spread the message of caring for the elderly to the people around.
Mr K ˘Ű So, Executive Director of Urban Group pointed out, ˇ§Urban Group has been actively participating in the District Elderly Campaign and other campaigns of Po Leung Kuk since 2005. Our 70 volunteers have visited 260 elderly of Kwun Tong last year to understand their needs and to help them fulfill their wishes. We will continue to support the campaign this year and our volunteers will visit the elderly in Kowloon City in this December to show our care to them.ˇ¨
ˇ§We are most delighted to have participated in this large scale caring event of Po Leung Kuk to concern the needs of the singleton elderly, who are being deprived of care from the society. Urban has established a Corporate Social Responsibility Partnership with Po Leung Kuk since 2005 and will continue to participate in the Kukˇ¦s social and community projects to help more in need and to reinforce our corporate citizen,ˇ¨ added Mr K M So.
Urban Group formed its corporate volunteer team ˇV the ˇ§Urban Community Care Teamˇ¨ in 2002, which has up-to-date 300 volunteers staff members. The Group actively encourages its customers in various properties under its management to establish their individual volunteer teams. Up to now, 36 properties under Urban have formed its own volunteer team to build up a strong social service network in Hong Kong.
