Urban Group Premier Walkers completes
100 km Oxfam Trailwalker Journey in 28 hours

Urban Group, following its participation in the charitable Trailwalker activity organized by Oxfam Hong Kong in the past 3 years, sent four "Urban Premier Walkers" to join this annual walkathon again this year, who have successfully completed the 100km journey in 28 hours and 8 minutes and raised HK$25,000 for the community.

More than 3,200 walkers participated in "Oxfam Trailwalker 2005" held from 11th to 13th November this year. The event aims to raise funds for helping the poor and supporting the development projects and emergency relief programmes in Asia by completing the 100 km Maclehose Trail within 48 hours.

Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group revealed, "Oxfam Trailwalker is a meaningful charitable event. Through participating in this meaningful event, we not only can help those disadvantaged people in the society, but may also train up our staff members on the importance of consistency at work and team spirit."

The four team members of "The Urban Premier Walkers" were elites selected from the 4,000 staff of Urban Group. With strong perseverance, esprit de corps and intensive training over the past 3 months, they finished the 100 km trail from Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung to Tuen Mun with their best record. They finished the journey in 28 hours and 8 minutes enabling the Group to complete the trail successfully in 3 consecutive years.

Dr. Edmond Cheng stated, "Apart from the 4 Urban Premier Walkers, we also organized a strong support team comprising 30 staff members to provide assistance, encouragement and materials supports to the Premier Walkers, which showed the strong team spirit of our Group."

Dr. Cheng continued, "To promote our corporate value of 'Community Care' and to fulfill our 'Corporate Social Responsibility', Urban Group has been actively supporting and encouraging our staff members to join various charitable and social events. Through our achievements in these activities, we wish to take the lead in encouraging our counterparts in the industry to participate in more social events in order to build up a harmonious society in Hong Kong."
