Po Leung Kuk Elderly Mini-University Programme

As Hong Kong's Premier Property Asset and Facility Management Company, Urban Group has been emphasizing the concept of "Community Manager" to help establish a good living environment for the people of Hong Kong.

2005 is Urban Group's "Caring Hong Kong Year". The Group has established a "Quality Social Partnership" with Po Leung Kuk to jointly organize a series of community care programmes in the coming months. The first among these programmes was to sponsor the Elderly Mini-University Programme jointly organized by Po Leung Kuk and the City University.

The purpose of the Elderly Mini-University Programme is to encourage the elderly to continuous learning and to fulfill their dream of studying in a university. Urban Group has sponsored a total of 96 elderly to join the five-day intensive course held from 1st to 5th August 2005 at the campus of the City University. The curriculum includes "Establishing Self Image", "A Glimpse of Korean Culture", "Tips on Health and Body Build", "Western Culture Overview" and "The Birth of a MV". After completing the five-day course, all elderly attended a Graduation Ceremony on 14th August 2005 to share the achievements with their relatives and friends.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group said, "the Elderly Mini-University Programme was a meaningful activity which enables the elderly to have an opportunity to enjoy university lives. It also provided a chance for the elderly to learn new things, so as to build up their confidence and to realize their abilities and contributions to the society."
