"Quality CSR Partnership" between Urban Group and Po Leung Kuk
70 Corporate Volunteers of Urban Group join District Elderly Campaign
of Po Leung Kuk and visit 260 elderly in Kwun Tong

70 corporate volunteers of Urban Group, a member of the listed NWS Holdings (HKEx. 0659), joined the "District Elderly Campaign" of Po Leung Kuk recently and visited 260 elderly in Kwun Tong. Bringing gifts to the elderly, the volunteers well demonstrated Urban's corporate citizenship, and their volunteering services also kicked off a series of visits to the elderly people in different districts organized by Po Leung Kuk.

The Po Leung Kuk "District Elderly Campaign" held its Launching Ceremony on 24th September 2005 at the District Elderly Community Centre of Po Leung Kuk at Tak Tin Estate, Nam Tin. The Campaign aims to awaken people's concern over the needs of the elderly and to cater for their needs through the concerted efforts of various commercial and local organizations.

Officiating at the Launching Ceremony included Mr Vincent To, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk; Mr Francis Chiu, Executive Director of Urban Group; Mrs Cecilia Yuen, District Social Welfare Officer (Kwun Tong) of the Social Welfare Department and famous artist Ms Vivian Chow.

After the Launching Ceremony, the volunteers of Urban Group visited 260 elderly in Kwun Tong respectively on 24 and 25 of September. During the visit, the volunteers conducted a simple survey to record the basic information as well as the needs of the elderly for future services provided to them.

Mr Vincent To, Chairman of Po Leung Kuk said on the Launching Ceremony, "the purpose of the 'District Elderly Campaign' of Po Leung Kuk is to ensure the elderly living in various districts over the territory to have the necessary support from the society and to care for their daily and special needs."

Apart from mobilizing their volunteers to join the elderly visits in Kwun Tong district, the Group also actively supports various social service projects of Po Leung Kuk like the 'Elderly Mini-University' programme completed recently and the Village Casserole Fest to be organized in November this year so as to benefit more needy people in the community," said Mr Vincent To.

Mr Francis Chiu, Executive Director of Urban Group said, "Urban Group is most delighted to join this large-scale campaign of Po Leung Kuk to concern for the needs of the singleton elderly, who are always depriving of care from the society. Urban has established the CSR Partnership with Po Leung Kuk. We will be working as partners on a series of social and community projects to help more in need as well as to reinforce our corporate citizenship."
