Date: 27/8/2005

Managed by Urban Group, Riviera Gardens in Tsuen Wan was recently awarded the "Wastewi$e Logo" under the Wastewi$e Scheme presented by the Environmental Protection Department, recognizing the contribution of the property in waste reduction and management.

Jointly organized by the Environmental Protection Department, the Environmental Campaign Committee and the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the "Wastewi$e Scheme" aims to commend the efforts of corporations in waste reduction and recycling. The "Wastewi$e Logo" is presented to organizations which have devised their waste reduction initiatives and successfully implemented effective measures to achieve at least 3 objectives in 1 year during their daily operations. The Logo is a kind of recognition to their outstanding achievements in environmental management.

In 2004, Riviera Gardens under Urban Group formulated 6 objectives in waste reduction and recycling, including recycling initiatives for used clothes, books, rechargeable batteries and paper. With the successful implementation of their recycling programmes for a year, Riviera Gardens was awarded the "Wastewi$e Logo", becoming the premier role model of green property in Tsuen Wan.

Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group stated, "Riviera Gardens has been actively launching various environmental care activities and promoting green messages to the customers through different communication channels. Over the years, the property has participated in lots of green activities like Source Separation of Waste Scheme, Mobile Environmental Resources Centre, Green Station, old book and CDR recycling. All these programmes have received overwhelming support and participation of our customers."

Dr. Edmond Cheng continued, "With the full support and encouragement of Urban Group, Riviera Gardens will continuously strive for our 'Corporate Social Responsibility' mission to provide a green living environment for our customers and contribute to the sustainable development of Hong Kong."
