Date: 19/8/2005

5 properties managed by Urban Group, namely Mei Foo Sun Chuen, CityOne Shatin, Riviera Gardens in Tsuen Wan, Harbour Heights in North Point and Park Vale in Quarry Bay, supported the appeal of World Vision Hong Kong to launch the "Used Book Recycling and Charity Sale Campaign" between July and August this year. The Campaign obtained overwhelming support from its customers as over 17,000 books were collected and HK$30,000 was raised for World Vision Hong Kong's "Education and Training Project for Disabled Children in Guangxi".

With its corporate mission of "Green Lifestyle" and "Community Care", Urban Group has been encouraging its managed properties to launch the Used Book Recycling and Charity Sale Campaign. The used books include textbooks, leisure readings, novels, children's readers and reference books were collected from their customers and re-sold at HK$5 each to the residents of the properties. All the unsold books will then be donated to World Vision Hong Kong for charity purposes.

Urban Group has been the first mover of environmental care in the Hong Kong property management industry. Apart from used book recycling, it also launches various recycling initiatives for used clothes, CDRs, batteries as well as second-hand electrical appliances. Urban's ultimate aim is to enhance the environmental protection awareness of their customers and to promote their corporate social responsibility through different kinds of recycling campaigns.

Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group pointed out that, "The used book recycling campaign is meaningful as it enables us not only to assist in the education programmes for the children in the Mainland China; but also contributes to environmental protection and lessen the financial burden of parents in purchasing books for their children.
