"Lei King Wan Caring Team" under Urban Group awarded
"Volunteer Service Gold Award"

Lei King Wan Caring Team, a volunteer service team formed by staff members and residents of Lei King Wan under the management of Urban Group, was awarded for the second consecutive year the Gold Award in Volunteer Service by the Social Welfare Department with its outstanding result of achieving 1,508 hours of volunteer service in the year of 2004. Besides, 6 volunteer members of the Team respectively contributed an individual volunteer service hours of 200, 100 and 50 hours, who were being awarded the individual Gold, Silver and Bronze Award for Volunteer Service.

Urban Group formed its corporate volunteer team of Urban Group - Urban Group Community Care Team in 2002 with over 200 staff volunteers to date. With its consistent effort to promote Community Care spirit among its managed properties, the Group now has 22 properties forming their individual volunteer teams to serve the community. Among which 10 properties has been awarded "Caring Estate" recognition by the Social Welfare Department, which is recognition presented to properties which show outstanding result in community serving.

According to Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group, "We always stress on our Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Care. Through promoting the concept of community building and the formation of volunteer teams in our Group as well as in various properties managed by us, we help enhance cohesiveness and good neighbourhood in the community. The outstanding result in community involvement of our Lei King Wan Caring Team is encouraging as they have contributed over 1,000 hours of volunteer service in 2004, providing concrete help and care to the people in need."

We actively participate in various kinds of social activities and volunteering services and assist the customers of our managed properties to form their own volunteer teams, so as to extend the scope of our Caring for the Community."
