5 Properties under Urban supports World Vision
to launch Old Book Recycling & Charity Sale Campaign

Five properties managed by Urban Group launched the Old Book Recycling and Charity Sale Campaign in July to support the appeal of World Vision in old book recycling. The Campaign obtained full support from its customers as over 20,000 books were collected and HK$30,000 was raised for World Vision Hong Kong's "Primary Health and Education Project in Diqing in Yunnan Province".

With its corporate mission of "Green Lifestyle" and "Community Care", Urban Group launched the Old Book Recycling and Charity Sale Campaign between 22nd and 31st July this year in 5 properties under its management namely Mei Foo Sun Chuen, Riviera Gardens in Tsuen Wan, City One Shatin, Harbour Heights in North Point and Park Vale in Quarry Bay. Books including textbooks, leisure readings, children's readers and reference books were collected from the customers of the 5 properties and then re-sold at HK$5 each to the residents. All the unsold books will be donated to World Vision Hong Kong for charity purposes.

Urban Group has been the first mover of environmental protection in the Hong Kong property management industry. Apart from old book recycling, it also launches various recycling initiatives for used clothes and CD-Rs as well as second-hand electrical appliances. Urban's ultimate aim is to promote the environmental protection awareness of its 1,000,000 customers by taking its corporate social responsibility through different kinds of recycling campaigns.

Mr. Francis Chiu, Director - Corporate Services of Urban Group pointed out, "These recycling initiatives are meaningful as they enable us not only to contribute to the education programmes of the children in the Mainland China, but also assist in reducing waste in the Hong Kong society."

Mr. Chiu stressed that, "Over the years, Urban Group has been actively supporting and participating in various green activities such as waste recycling, the Environmental Protection Ambassador Scheme and the Green Walks. With the full support from our 4,200 staff and 1,000,000 customers, Urban Group has obtained outstanding achievements in environmental protection. Among them, City One Shatin under our management was recently awarded the 'Gold Wastewi$e Logo' and received the 'Eco-Business Award - Gold Award' in 2002, reflecting our contribution in green management in Hong Kong.
