Urban Group launches "Anti-Mosquitoes Cleaning Campaign"
for 1 Million People in 320 Properties

To provide a healthy and sanitized living environment for its customers living in the 320 properties and facilities with over 1,000 building blocks, Urban Group launched a 3-month "Urban Group Environmental Sanitation Management Scheme - Anti-Mosquito Cleaning Campaign" in July this year, aiming to work hand-in-hand with its 1,000,000 customers to guard against the outbreak of mosquito-related diseases in the properties.
In view of the recent outbreak of the infectious diseases such as Dengue Fever and Japanese Encephalitis, which has been posing threats to the people of Hong Kong, The 'Urban Crisis Communications Centre' launched the "Anti-Mosquitoes Cleaning Campaign" and formed a number of "Special Mosquito Control Teams" in properties under Urban Group's management to ensure a sanitized and clean living environment in the properties.
During the "Anti-Mosquitoes Cleaning Campaign", a series of preventive measures will be implemented by the "Special Mosquito Control Teams" including inspection and clearance of stagnant water found in the properties at least once a day; spraying larvicidal oil at serious mosquito-breeding spots; keeping all drainages free from blockage to avoid accumulation of stagnant water and to prevent mosquito breeding.
On the other hand, the "Special Mosquitoes Control Teams" will also keep close contact with the responsible governmental departments to monitor the mosquito-breeding situation in Hong Kong and to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of the campaign. Moreover, the Team will organize "Anti-Mosquito Seminar" for the customers to arouse their awareness on the prevention of mosquitoes and has published a comprehensive "Anti-Mosquito Tips" to supply them with the most updated preventive measures against mosquito-diseases.
Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group pointed out that, "Prevention is always better than cure. To protect our customers against various infectious diseases, our 'Urban Group Crisis Communications Centre' has launched the 'Urban Group Environmental Sanitation Management Scheme' in February this year, which introduced a '3-Tier Crisis Communications Alert System' to keep our customers well informed of the latest information concerning the necessary precautionary and control measures against the diseases."
