“Best Employer in Hong Kong”
Urban Group shares retraining experiences in “Employers Luncheon”

Urban Group, Hong Kong’s Largest Property Asset and Facility Management Group was recently invited to the “Employers Luncheon” organized by Hong Kong College of Technology (HKCT) to share their experiences with other major enterprises in the territory in becoming the “Best Employer in Hong Kong”.

Totally, more than 60 enterprises actively participated in employee retraining were invited to the “Employers’ Luncheon” held on 20th February 2004. The Luncheon aims to provide an opportunity for these enterprises to share their experiences in jointly organizing retraining programmes with the HKCT Retraining Centre, to exchange opinions towards the expectation on retrainees and to promote the value of corporate social responsibility.

Urban Group values people as the most important asset of the company. Since 2000, it has been employing graduate retrainees from the HKCT Retraining Centre. In addition, it has jointly organized a series of property management and security retraining courses with the Retraining Centre since September 2002 to further enhance the quality of its staff so as to provide better services to their customers.

Ms Janna Cheng, Senior Group Manager – Human Capital and Training of Urban Group pointed out that, “Since 2002, Urban Group has been jointly organizing training courses with different retraining bodies. We have coordinated with the HKCT Retraining Centre to organize a number of retraining courses such as Standardized Security and Senior Security and Property Management Trainings. After graduation, the retrainees became our staff members and further improve the quality of our human resources.”

Ms Janna Cheng mentioned, “In February, Urban Group obtained the Platinum Award in “Employer Gold Star Award” presented by the Employees Retraining Board to confirm our outstanding performance in Human Capital Development. As the Best Employer in Hong Kong, we strongly believe that most of the retrainees have substantial practical experiences, particularly those unemployed middle-aged people. What they lack is only an opportunity to development a new career.”

Ms Cheng added, “In future, Urban Group will continue to contribute to our economy and create a better living environment for the society by providing a long term and stable career for those unemployed people.”
