Urban Group Community Care Team distributes "Lucky Packs" to 1,500 singleton elderly

Hong Kong's Premier Property Asset and Facility Management Group Urban Group always put the goal of contributing the society as its Core Value and is fully devoted to corporate social responsibility to build a caring community in Hong Kong.

In February, the 'Urban Group Community Team' initiated a 'Lucky Packs Distribution Campaign' to distribute 1,500 "Lucky Packs" to the singleton elderly living in the 8 Housing for Senior Citizens of the public rental housing estates under its management including Wah Oi House of Wah Kwai Estate in Aberdeen, Hong Tung Estate in Sai Wan Ho, Sheung Lok House, Sheung Lok Estate in Homantin, Un Chau Estate in Cheung Sha Wan, King Lam Estate and Ming Tak Estate in Tseung Kwan O, Chung On Estate in Ma On Shan and Tin Tze Estate in Tin Shui Wai.

The campaign is solely organized by the 'Urban Group Community Team' and sponsored by Wai Hong Cleaning & Pest Control Co Ltd, another environmental sanitation management company under NWSH Holdings Ltd. Volunteers of Wai Hong joined 100 staff members of Urban Group during their visits to the HSCs to distribute the lucky packs to the elderly and shared the happy moment together.

Members of the 'Urban Group Community Team' have engaged in month-long preparation of the campaign. They started by sourcing materials and sponsors, production of the lucky packs and also involved in the packing and transportation of the lucky packs and mobilizing volunteering staff members to participate in the distribution of the lucky packs, showing good volunteering spirit and care for the community.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group revealed, "The 'Urban Group Community Team' was established in June 2002. The Team has been involving in various social and volunteering services such as home visits to the elderly people and help in the cleaning and minor repairs works of their homes, knitting and distributing scarves to the needy people to realize our corporate social responsibility to build a caring community."

"Through participating in various volunteering activities, staff members not only help promote the 'Community Care' spirit within the Group, but can also arouse the awareness on the needs of the unprivileged people in the society, enabling more benefits to be granted to the needy people."

Dr Edmond Cheng added, "To cope with the Core Value of 'Community Care' in our 'Urban Premier Management Model™', we very much encourage our staff as well as residents living in our 320 properties to participate in volunteering services. We also actively invite them to form their own volunteering team to serve the community."
