"Urban Group Premier Walkers" becomes Champion in the 50 km Property Management Cup of the Green Power Hike

Urban Group, following last year's participation in the Green Power Hike organized by the environmental protection advocate Green Power, enrolled two teams in the annual charitable walkathon this year. Among them, the "Urban Premier Walkers" formed by 4 staff members of the Group became the Champion of the first ever launched 50 km Property Management Cup by completing the journey in 7 hours 28 minutes.

Green Power Hike is the largest hiking event with the longest history on the Hong Kong Island. It has attracted in the past 11 years over 19,000 participants to join this meaningful act. Donations from this year will be funding local green education in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, striving to make our future environment brighter and greener.

The Property Management Cup was the first of its kind in the Green Power Hike. Altogether there were 13 property management companies joining the competition this year. Team members of the "Urban Premier Walkers" were selected from the 4,200 staff of Urban Group. They have undergone systematic and intensive trainings before the event, which enabled them to beat their counterparts from 12 other companies with perseverance and esprit de corps, completing the 50 km Hong Kong Trail from the Peak to Big Wave Bay in the best of time.

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group revealed, "Urban Group actively supports and encourages staff members to join various charitable and social events to promote our corporate value of "Community Care". Besides, through our achievements in community activities, we wish to encourage more property management companies to participate in various meaningful events to build a harmonious society."

"Members of the two teams participating in the Green Power Hike were supported by all staff of Urban Group. We have formed a supporting team whose members enthusiastically cheer up our teams at various check points and provide materials and provisions to the team members which demonstrates full team spirit to raise fund for the charity." Said Dr Cheng.

In February, 11 companies under Urban Group was awarded the Caring Company recognition by the Hong Kong Council of Social Services, applauding its participation and contribution in various social and community services in Hong Kong. The Group receives the largest number of this recognition among property management companies in the territory. Besides, the Group was awarded the Platinum Award in the 2004 Employers Gold Star Award presented by the Employees Retraining Board, which consolidates its leading position in the property asset and facility management industry to encourage more property management companies to serve the community and shoulder corporate social responsibility.
