Urban Group launches "Environmental Sanitation Management Scheme"
to fully implement "3-Tier Crisis Communication Alert System"

Urban Group launched its "Environmental Sanitation Management Scheme" in January this year in 320 properties under its management to fully implement a comprehensive range of precautionary measures against infectious diseases. Moreover, it introduces a "3-Tier Crisis Communication Alert System" to update the latest information on various diseases for its customers.

In addition, Urban Group also introduces a "3-Tier Crisis Communications Alert System" to protect all its customers against the diseases and to keep them well informed about the most updated information as well as relevant preventive measures, so as to maintain and ensure a clean and hygienic living environment for its customers.
Level 1: Green Alert
Whenever any infectious disease case has been reported in nearby countries,
including SARS, H5N1 virus, monkey pox, etc. Educational materials will be displayed
on the Environmental Sanitation Management Bulletin Board to alert the
customers, its frontline staff and the service contractors.
Level 2: Amber Alert
Whenever any infectious disease case has been reported within Hong Kong. All
cleaning service contractors will be requested to strengthen the sanitation
services of the properties and the frequency for cleaning the common areas will
be greatly increased.
Level 3: Red Alert
Whenever any infectious disease case has been reported within the boundary of
any property under Urban Group's portfolio. Urban Group will conduct immediately
comprehensive cleaning of all common areas for the specific property. All frontline
staff of the property must wear sanitary facemask and other preventive clothes
at work.
According to Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group, "Our aim in launching the Urban Group Environmental Sanitation Management Scheme is to provide a safe, sanitized and clean living environment for our customers. This Scheme not only introduces preventive measures against SARS and the Avian Virus, but also covers all other infectious diseases recently identified so as to well prepare ourselves as well as our customers and service contractors for the possible epidemic."
Dr Edmond Cheng said, "We have learnt from the last SARS outbreak to conclude a more comprehensive environmental sanitation management planning. We will make use of different communication channels and operational guidelines to enrich the understanding and knowledge of our customers, our frontline staff and the service contractors on the diseases, so that respective precautionary measures can be taken at an early stage."
Dr Cheng pointed out that, "Within the Scheme, we have set up the Urban Group Environmental Sanitation Management Bulletin Board in all 320 properties under our service to communicate updated information on the diseases with our 180,000 units of customers. Moreover, our 3-Tier Alert System will becomes an easily identifiable signal to our customers to prevent unnecessary rumours from spreading in the properties."
"As a matter of fact, we have already launched our Crisis Communications Centre since the last SARS attack in 2003 to provide round the clock monitoring and operational support for our customers.
