Managing Director of Urban Group Dr. Edmond Cheng was recently awarded 2003 Director of the Year in the Private Company Executive Directors Category, recognizing his engagement in continuing corporate governance practices.
Organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors and following the achievements in the last two years, the 2003 Directors of the Year Award successfully nominated 10 awardees in 7 categories including: Listed Company Executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors, listed Company Boards, Private Company Executive Directors, Statutory/ Non - profit-distributing Organization executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors and Statutory/ Non - profit-distributing Organization Boards.
According to Deputy Chairman of the 2003 Directors of the Year Awards Organizing Committee Ir Edmund K H Leung OBE JP, "The Panel of Judges has adopted a very high standard in the judging process. It has exercised its rights and discretions in whether or not to declare winners in the categories."
Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group not only is the one who being awarded in the Private Company Executive Directors Category this year, but also the first top executive in the property asset and facility management industry to be awarded the "Director of the Year" recognition.
Dr. Edmond Cheng stated that, "A high standard of corporate governance are of increasing importance for enterprises around the world. The cardinal themes of good corporate governance are corporate transparency and efficient internal communications. Adopting a top-down management approach, it provides an effective and efficient communication channel within the organization, raises our team spirit, assures the understanding of organization goals among employees and hence increases the overall productivity and efficiency of the enterprise."
