8 Companies under Urban Group sign Workplace Hygiene Charter

Eight Companies under Urban Group, a member of NWS Holdings (HKEx Stock Code: 0659), recently obtained the Certificate of Workplace Hygiene Charter from the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC), reflecting the determination of Urban in striving for a comfortable and hygienic working environment for its staff and the people of Hong Kong.

8 Companies under Urban Group, which received the Workplace Hygiene Charter are:

Organized by the OSHC, the Launching Ceremony of Good Housekeeping Promotional Campaign 2003 cum the Workplace Hygiene Charter Signing Ceremony was held on 25th August 2003 at the Broadcasting House of RTHK.

According to Chairman of OSHC Dr Ng Tat-lun BBS JP, "OSHC has provided 10 criteria to guide the occupational safety and health standard of those organizations which have signed the Workplace Hygiene Charter. It is encouraging to have more than 200 organizations from different industries including construction, food and beverage, property management and public utilities to support and sign the Charter, which cover 250,000 employees. I very much expect that the overall workplace hygiene standard in Hong Kong will be greatly enhanced."

Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group emphasized, "Urban Group has shown our commitment to a hygienic and healthy working environment by signing the Workplace Hygiene Charter. The 10 criteria stipulated by OSHC provide systematic and effective guidelines for us to improve the hygiene standard of our working place."

The Group established its Occupational Safety and Health Committee in 1998 to promote and coordinate all related activities and to launch their OSH Ambassadors Scheme.
