Urban Group awarded the Green Property Management Gold Award

Paramatta Estate Management Limited ( City One Shatin) , a member of the Urban Group awarded the Green Property Management Gold Award ( Private Housing) at the beginning of 2003, continuing the legend of the Urban Group who received 11 Green Care awards out of 139 awards for the year 2002, signifying a role model of corporate social responsibility among property management companies in Hong Kong.

Organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hong Kong Eco - Business Awards aim to educate companies about the importance of environment management and to recognise those who have already embraced the concept of environment protection.

Whereas Dr. Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group stated that, 'As pioneer in Green Management, we are fully devoted and committed to the Core Drivers of Green lifestyle and Community Care in the unique " Urban Premier Management Model" to achieve Six- star Standard for our customers and strive to build up a Green Living Environment for the people of Hong Kong.'

As a Hong Kong's Largest Property and Facility Manager, the Urban Group is committed to provide new valued-added services and a quality lifestyle to its clients. It established the Green Care Committee, aimed to implement a series of environmental management practices, in order to turn their operation " green". The committee also echoes the government's volunteering movement by regularly carrying out green care activities, such as Wastewi$e Scheme and Waste Recycling Campaign in Housing Estates.

Dr Edmond Cheng continues, " To achieve good environmental initiatives, we should ensure that all staff, all committee members of the incorporated Owners' Committee and all customers indoctrinate in this green care culture. To provide informative green practices can educate all the importance and benefit of the environmental care, it is not only can builds customer satisfaction and gain community respect, but also can increase productivity and give the company a leading- edge over competitors."

The Urban Group implement waste reduction initiatives result with good achievements in the past few years. The government proposed to introduce a " Two- bag collection system " in March on Aldrich Gardens and Lei King Wan which under the management of the Urban Group. This recognition scheme aids to reduce the cost of recycling, people have to divide the dry and wet waste with green or black plastic bag.

"In future, Urban Group will provide more premier and value-added services to our over 600,000 customers in 300 projects under our services to build up a green living environment for the people of Hong Kong." Said Dr. Edmond Cheng.

Currently, Urban Group manages 300 properties and facilities, which comprise more than 120 million square feet in gross floor area. They include 150,000 residential units, 20 million square feet of commercial and industrial premises and over 33,000 car parking spaces throughout the territory. Urban Group has a high reputation in its professionalism, excellent service quality and innovation, which has become a mark of confidence for the property owners.
