Urban Group recently received the Corporate Citizenship Logo in the Enterprise Category and the Volunteer Team Category in “The 10th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards Presentation Ceremony”, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education to commend their efforts in serving the community.
The Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Award Presentation Ceremony was held on 17 December 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, was officiated by Mr Lin Sun Mo, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council who addressed in the Ceremony“HKPC is honoured to have organised ‘The Hong Kong Corporate Citizenship Programme’ for ten years in a row. Over the past decade, we have seen industries in various sectors proactively participating in the Programme and other publicity events. Gaining wide public recognition, this year’s number of participating organisations has reached a record high.”
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group stated that “Urban Group is delighted to receive the Corporate Citizenship Logos and Urban Group has been participating in this programme for 7 consecutive years, demonstrating its notable CSR performance and volunteering work, which is indeed a great encouragement for our corporate volunteers. We have established the Urban Group Community Care Committee since 2002 to cultivate a caring spirit through engaging staff members from different departments and properties to participate in voluntary services. Up to now, we have 65 volunteer teams from different properties, contributing to a harmonious community in Hong Kong.”
“Over the years, members of the Urban Group Community Care Team have been enthusiastically participated in different voluntary activities and Urban Group Caring Day to encourage colleagues and their families to join social service, including having interesting and modern workout with elderly such as Laughter Yoga in order to advocate healthy lifestyle. Moreover, they also teach children to express their care and love to the elderly, lead elderly and underprivileged children to participate in green workshops to promote green living. In addition, volunteers visit elderly homes during festive seasons, work on scarves knitting and distributions, used books collection and charity sales, Green Power Hike, flag–selling and various fund-raising events by the Community Chest as well as supporting the Social Welfare Department Volunteering Movement Campaign to spread our caring message to every corner of the community.
From 2011 to 2019, our corporate volunteers have devoted more than 13,700 hours in serving the community to help the people in need, showing our care for the community.” Dr Edmond Cheng continued.
