Urban Group is awarded the Volunteer Action Award in the 2018-19 "Hong Kong Citizen Hong Kong Heart" Volunteer Ambassador Program. Moreover, 7 property volunteer teams under Urban Group, including CityOne Shatin, Riviera Gardens, Belair Monte, Pok Hong Estate, The Merton, Lei King Wan, and The Metropolis are also awarded the Leading Caring Estate Certificates. Both programs are organized by the Steering Committee on Promotion of Volunteer Service of the Social Welfare Department (SWD) in recognition of their substantial voluntary services performed over the past year.
The Volunteer Action Award was presented to the corporate volunteer teams who had implemented innovative and caring community service. Urban Group was recognized for its efforts on “Urban Group Caring Day 2018” by inviting corporate volunteers, the elderly and children to make cakes together and visit the elderly to spread love and care among different generations in the community.
The “Leading Caring Estate” Certificate was presented to volunteer teams formed by residents of various properties who had accumulated substantial volunteer service hours over the past 12 months to recognize their services to the community. The 7 properties under Urban Group had accumulated over 7,800 voluntary service hours in the past year.
Dr Edmond Cheng, Managing Director of Urban Group reveals, “Urban Group has been a member of the Sub-committee on Promotion of Volunteering in Community Organizations under the Steering Committee on Promotion of Volunteer Service of SWD since 2000. We assist in promoting volunteerism to the people of Hong Kong through joining hands with SWD in a number of projects including the “Hong Kong Citizen Hong Kong Heart” Volunteer Ambassador Program and “Hong Kong Citizen Hong Kong Heart” DIY Suggestion Scheme to spread the message of caring for the community to all walks of life in Hong Kong.”
“Moreover, we encourage our staff members and customers to participate in voluntary services organized by SWD and have been supporting the “Caring for Our Community’ Campaign since 2005 to mobilize our customers in the 354 properties under our service to form their own volunteer teams to serve the community. In addition, our corporate volunteer teams and property volunteer have been awarded the “Appreciation Certificate for Volunteer Service” and the “Leading Caring Estate” Certificate by SWD, demonstrating our contributions in implementing CSR among our staff members and customers” added Dr Edmond Cheng.
